Today is my 25th birthday – I’m officially in my mid- 20’s! To be honest I have mixed emotions about this. On the one hand, I know there are a lot of fun things in store for me during the second half of my 20’s, but I’m also a little sad to be leaving my early 20’s because they have been such an adventure!
I have moved away from home, finished my undergrad degree and graduated from Dalhousie university, where I met my now husband Edgar, got engaged and got married last year. We have traveled around Canada, the US, and gone on many trips down south. I have been at a full time adult job now for 4 years, and this year started my blogging journey. I have juggled full time work and a full time professional program and I am one week away from finding out the results of the 3 day exam I wrote in September that determines if I can use the letters “CPA” after my name going forward.
Soo.. to say its been a busy few years would be an understatement, but honestly that is how I thrive. So today I am sharing 25 things I would like to do while I’m 25 – these include both goals and some fun activities I would just like to do this year!
– Travel to NYC at Christmas time – this has always been on my bucket list, and for that I blame my favorite Christmas Movie, Home Alone 2. This year is finally the year for it!
– Continue growing my blog and be less worried about putting myself out there – I have loved my journey so far, but constantly think about what other people might think about my posts and style. This year, I want to be less self- conscience.
– Become a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) – something I have been working towards for years now, and I am one more step away. Finger crossed for me people!
– Take better care of my body – This is something that has fallen off lately while I was studying, but I want to make a real effort to get back into going to the gym, eating healthier, and taking time for myself with a little skincare and pampering.
– Travel to Calgary for Stampede – I have never been out in Western Canada and I have wanted to go for a few years. Edgar has gone a couple times now, but I have sadly had to pass due to school – this summer is the year!
– Be more organized with my blog and Instagram posts – I am generally a pretty organized person, but sometimes blogging can feel like a full time job. And since I also have another full time job, it can be challenging to stay on top of posting. I am going to develop a schedule and stick to it this year.
– Get 500 followers on the like to know it app – This might be ambitious, but I’m always one to dream big rather than realistically. I just got accepted to the Like to know it family last month, but this was something I really wanted when I started blogging. Now that I have achieved that, I want to keep growing on there, because I love the platform so much!
– Finish decorating my apartment – Edgar and I recently moved back to downtown Halifax and we couldn’t be happier being back in the heart of the city and walking distance from most entertainment. However, I still haven’t gotten our new place to a state where I am completely happy with it. I want to get some new home decor pieces after Christmas to make our apartment complete!
– Go skating and swimming – Both of these activities I did competitively as a kid, but haven’t done much lately. Now we have a pool in our building and live a 5 minute walk from the Oval (an outdoor ice rink), so I want to make time to do these activities again!
– Collaborate with more brands and companies – I have been really trying to focus on my content to get it good enough to start collaborating with more brands. This year it is a goal of mine to become good enough to work some of my favorites like forever 21 or Lulus.
– Go on a spring break vacation with friends – It has become sort of a tradition for us to travel down south in February to either Mexico or Cuba, and I hope this year is no different! This break away in the middle of winter is something I look forward to each year and it helps reset my mind and body during my least favorite time of the year – Winter.
– Cook more often and meal prep on Sundays – I am not a good cook, in fact Edgar does 90% of the cooking in our household! But this year I would like to make a better effort to cook more often and prep my meals for the week on Sundays! This should help me with my goal of eating healthier and also help me feel more organized.
– Advance my career – I have been in my current role for going on 2 years now and I would like to make a move this year.
– Read more – I used to love reading books, but while I was a student I kind of stopped this and I want to get back at it. Bring on the cheesy summer romance novels and murder mysteries.
– Go home more often and make more time for family – I do not live in the same city as my family and I’m guilty of not visiting often enough, I want to make an effort to change this.
– Be better at saving money! I want to be more diligent for saving for the future, now that I’m in my mid 20’s and all.
– Open an online boutique – Probably not realistic for within the year, but I want to at least do more research into starting this dream.
– Shop smarter and invest my money into one really nice designer piece – I sometimes find I impulse buy and end up with pieces I like, but are not necessarily cohesive with the rest of my closet or do not suit my daily lifestyle. This year, I want to shop less often, but update my wardrobe with a few “classic” accessories that will elevate my outfits (I have my eye on a Gucci belt and/or Gucci disco bag).
– Share more personal posts and stories – My Instagram and blog have become mainly about outfit inspo and shopping links – which will still be my main focus, but I want to make an effort to inject more of my personal life in it as well, so you guys can all get to know me better and we can build a real connection!
– Post more videos on my stories and IGTV – become more comfortable in front of the camera. This is something I still feel uncomfortable doing, but videos are a great way to show personality and build the personal connection mentioned above, so I am going to push myself to use these features more.
– Become a better golfer – I actually really enjoy golfing, its a great way to spend time outdoors with friends in the summer and it’s one of Edgar’s favorite activities! However, I am average at best and would like to get better this year!
– Work on my photography and editing – I want to get better at editing my photos to get a clean, crisp look that shows off the clothing better.
– Care less about pleasing others and focus on pleasing myself – self explanatory, sometimes you need to put yourself first and do what is right for you.
– Spend time with friends doing things around the city – I want to take full advantage of living downtown while I am young!
– Have fun and stress less – I want to take some things less seriously and enjoy the ride.
What are some things you want to accomplish this year? Let me know below!
